Leather Honing Block
A few quick strokes on leather will keep your tools in top form without any danger of changing the bevel. Many people find they very rarely need to use a whetstone if they use the leather consistently. Rubbing honing compound into the leather before honing speeds up the process considerably.
Our leather honing block is a handy size to keep beside you while you are carving.
Available in either cow or horse hide. Cow hide is less expensive; horse hide is denser and withstands nicks better than cow hide, so it will last longer. The stropes used to hone straight-edge razors were traditionally made from horse hides.
