Christin and Bella thoroughly enjoyed representing McClain\u2019s at the Mid-America Print Council (MAPC) <\/a>conference in early October. We want to extend a big thank you to Kansas State University (KSU) for hosting. Shout out to Bryan Raymundo and his fantastic group of volunteers! MAPC host institutions are volunteer run and they put in so much time and effort to make these conferences possible. We had a wonderful time reconnecting with old friends and meeting new people. Christin is featured here holding a beautiful Takach brayer that went to one lucky raffle recipient! Daniel hosted a couple sharpening demonstrations at the McClain\u2019s booth. Daniel offers a professional tool sharpening service, so if your carving tools are in need of some TLC get in touch! Mokuhanga Project Space – Open Residency Application<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Founded by Moku Hanga artist Keiko Hara, the Mokuhanga Project Space in Walla Walla, Washington is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization \u201ccreated to promote and support mokuhanga by exploring new dimensions of the art form in a global context,\u201d offering workshops, exhibits and residencies. Currently their Winter Studio Workspace Residency application is open through November 31st<\/sup>, 2024. This residency will host four artists. Participants will receive a $1,000 stipend to support their work during their residency. Accommodations will be provided next to the studio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SGCI Puertograbando 2025!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

McClain\u2019s is looking forward to attending the next Southern Graphics Conference International (SGCI) in beautiful San Juan, Puerto Rico at the University of Puerto Rico campus. SGCI Puertograbando<\/a> will be held in early April 2025, more information to come. We hope to see you there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Print Day in May (PDiM) and McClain\u2019s Meet Up<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

Owner of McClain\u2019s, Alex Prentiss, and longtime employee Ally, met up with Robynn Smith, Professor Emeritus at Monterey Peninsula College and founder of Print Day in May (PDiM), and PDiM team member Carrie Gilbert, this past summer. We had a great time exchanging start up-stories and hiccups along the way, discussing the expansion of PDiM over the years and future aspirations. It was great to finally meet Robynn and Carrie!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McClain\u2019s has been a sponsor of this event for years and we love being part of it. PDiM promotes the power of printmaking globally by hosting an online printmaking event on the first Saturday in May every year. It is a fun opportunity to share your work and connect with printmakers from around the world, plus it is free to participate! Just make a print, post your work on Instagram, Facebook or on the PDiM blog, tag PDiM and a sponsor for your chance to win prizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a more personal note, we hope everyone is doing ok. Things did not go the way many Americans were hoping for this November. Though we acknowledge many are pleased with the outcome, we want to extend a hand to those who are having a difficult time with the election results. Please know you are not alone. We hope you are giving yourself grace and patience during this time.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
