Registration Boards
left-handed on the left and right-handed on the right
Registration Boards eliminate having to carve Kento (registration marks) into every block.
Carve the marks into the backwards "L" or use tape to make temporary registration marks. Place the inked block firmly into the corner of the "L" and use the marks to accurately position the printing paper on the block. Click here for complete instructions.
Available with corner of the "L" on the left or right side. Most right-handed people feel more comfortable using their right hand to place the paper into the mark on the right, but it is a personal choice.
The inner edges of the "L" are beveled to keep ink from transferring from the block to the "L". The "L" is made from 1/4" plywood and tapers to 3/16" so you can put 1/4" blocks into the corner without their edges touching the "L." The base is made from 3/8" thick plywood.
The Registration Board works with blocks that are 3/8" high or thinner. It does not work well with thicker blocks (like our Cherry Blocks or Mounted ArtPrint Linoleum) because the paper will fold instead of laying flat into the registration marks.
Sizes
The wood strips used to form the "L" are 2" wide. That means that on a 14" x 18" Registration Board, the open space that the carved block fits into is 12" x 16".
If you would like a different size Registration Board, we will be happy to make it for you. Keep in mind that the opening is 2" less than the size of the board. Please allow one week for us to make custom Registration Boards.
