Complete Works of Akira Kurosaki, Catalogue Raisonne: Woodcuts & Paper Works 1965-2006
A truly stunning collection. This contemporary Japanese artist teaches and promotes woodblock printmaking around the world and especially in the U.S. The book marks Akira Kurosaki's retirement from teaching at Kyoto Seika University in Kyoto, Japan.
The book begins with a fascinating interview with Akira Kurosaki titled "Expressing Inner Color and Form: Forty Years Pursuing the Creative Possibilities of Printmaking."
This is followed by seventy nine pages of large reproductions of selected prints and paper works spanning his career. The next sixty eight pages contain smaller images of all the artworks made by the artist, arranged in chronological order. There are approximately nine prints shown on each page.
An illustrated section describing the woodcut techniques of Mr. Kurosaki, with a description of materials and papers; a biography and an extensive bibliography complete the book.
